Pros and Cons of Lightweight Aluminum vs. Steel Skid Plates for Daily Drivers

  • Hello

I have been considering upgrading the underbody protection on my car & noticed that skid plates come in different materials; mainly aluminum and steel. 🤔  While steel offers better durability against serious impacts, aluminum is significantly lighter, which could help with fuel efficiency and handling.☺️

However; I am unsure how aluminum holds up in real-world conditions, especially for daily drivers who face occasional off-road terrain, speed bumps, or winter road salt.😇

Some people say aluminum skid plates can bend more easily upon impact, while steel ones might rust over time if not properly coated. Others argue that aluminum is sufficient for most street-driven cars and light off-roading. Has anyone here tested both AWS Online Training materials on their vehicles? How do they compare in terms of longevity, maintenance, and real-world protection?🤔

    Thank you !!☺️
